In 2020, global turnover of popular streaming media services such as Netflix, Amazon and Videoland will surpass cinema revenues for the first time. PwC’s Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2020-2024 predicts cinema turnover will fall by 66 percent; at the same time, the streaming sector is showing unprecedented growth – estimated at 26 percent – due to corona and the arrival of new providers such as Disney+.
De wereldwijde omzet van populaire streamingsdiensten zoals Netflix, Amazon en Videoland zal in 2020 voor het eerst de bioscoopinkomsten overstijgen. PwC’s Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2020-2024 voorspelt dat de omzet voor bioscopen met 66 procent zal dalen; tegelijkertijd vertoont de streamingsector een ongekende groei – geschat op 26 procent – door corona en de introductie van nieuwe aanbieders zoals Disney+.
