Abstract
Thesis focuses on the question of how film sales companies like The Match Factory can contribute to the increase of the European film industry. It gives an definition of the term European film industry. Then it presents a short overview on the European film industry from World War II until now. After analysed the audiovisual programme of the European Union in chapter three, it focuses on the world sales companies and on ingredients for a successful film industry. Thesis examines also measures which are necessary for the increase of the European film industry and for the creation of a ´EuroWood. Finally it describes the position of the world sales companies in and outside Europe in relation to the encouragement of the circulation of European audiovisual products.
