The main theme was divided into four sub-topics, which were discussed separately in the symposium papers. Those were museumobject: what and why?; criteria for the selection of museumobjects and the current constraints that limit the selection; what should we continue to preserve of the present collections?; and current acquisition policy and its appropriateness for tomorrow's needs.
