Samenvatting
Purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how existing studies on early childhood in museums have led to suggest a research focus on the way young children perceive the museum setting. To address this purpose, author first discusses the way existing studies regard the nature of early childhood and early visiting experiences, and the approaches to research these studies have adopted to explore young children as museum visitors. The issues that emerge from this discussion are the foundations for challenging the notion of 'museum learning' as a research focus, and for developing a new research question on young children's museum perceptions.
