Samenvatting
A critical analyis of approaches based explicitly or implicitly on the principle of the pre-eminence of demand and needs, and a theoretical and methodological elucidation leading to an analysis of the formation of supply and demand for cultural goods and services as an integral part of the general trend of capital production and reproduction; four monographs on branches associated with various categories of cultural products: the phonographic industry, the industry of the new audiovisual products, the record industry and the production of prints; forms of capital valorization in cultural production. The conclusion on the links between the economic and ideological role of cultural production in the context of social reproduction, leads up to a critical discussion of the ideology of the consumption of cultural goods.
