Samenvatting
Climate change must be understood and studied as an historically situated phenomenon, effecting populations and territories in different ways across the globe. The important difference among Global North/Global South highlights that climate change is not only an environmental issue and that it urges a specific justice system to come up with concrete actions. In order to provide solutions to the climatic threat on cultural heritage, this White Paper draws up a state of the art of joint studies and initiatives merging culture, heritage and climate change. It provides a set of approaches, perspectives and conversations with positive consequences on the short, medium and long-term. In the first place, the Paper sets out four orientations for a ‘heritage perspective’ on climate change (orientation towards deep time; towards the future; towards local and Indigenous knowledge; towards both practice and critical thinking) and drafts a review of inherent scientific disclosures. Finally, eight case studies are took as models for the construction of effective heritage-related strategies against climate change.
