Speciaal nummer van : Representations.(1989)25 (Winter.1-70) Essays address the issue of the ways in which questions of gender have played a role in the making, marketing and viewing of art in the West. Feminist art historians and critics started by concentrating on male bias that resulted in the domination or exclusion of women and then gradually turned to consider women as artists and also women's experience as patrons and most recently as viewers. An abiding concern has been the circumstances of women depicted in pictures. |
