Samenvatting
Our European inheritance depends to an immeasurable degree on the work, over many centuries, of European artists. The position of artists is threatened by the ruthless global financial and economic competition on the arts and culture, which endangers freedom of artistic expression. The new media technology constitutes often an assault on genuine artistic professionalism. The collapse of communism has created a vacuum of ideas about cultural policy that goes beyond the imperatives of the free market. These and other subjects are summarized in the contributions of the speakers, the comments and the discussions. |
