Samenvatting
Cities today are facing major challenges due to climate change and urban growth. Smart city technologies such as smart street lighting, smart waste bins, and crowd-monitoring services are often supposed to save us from these troubles, but in turn give reason for new concern. To ensure that smart city technologies contribute to a fair and sustainable city for all, citizens must have a voice in the debate about the future city. But this is easier said than done. Following a learning-by-doing approach, this thesis investigates whether art can help. In particular, we mainly applied interactive theatre to foster joint reflection among smart city professionals and citizens in vulnerable positions. Can art save the city?
