Samenvatting
Based on a broad collaborative research proposition, we invited researchers and museum professionals to develop studies at a local level to identify new experiences, proposals and debates on the conceptual understanding of the museum and its function in the Latin America and Caribbean framework. The concept mapping aimed at identifying the definitions parallel to those stated by ICOM, from its creation to the current definition (1946-2007). The search to map museum definitions encountered a complex topic that tends to be silenced by official discourses when writing history. Similarly, it is worth noting that the texts that make up this book present difficult issues and investment opportunities. At times, such concepts can be presented as opposed to a global perspective, questioning the local element, that is, the dynamics established between the local and the global spheres in a system of exchange, sharing and usurpation. The research resulted in four articles that completed this publication, taking these investments into consideration. |
