Samenvatting Investigation of the returns and return determinants of collectible goods. The first chapter serves as a general introduction to the long-term performance of art, stamps, and violins, and also discusses investment risks. The second chapter specifically investigates the investment performance of art. The third chapter looks into the returns and return drivers in the market for Russian art. The fourth chapter examines how equity markets and the income distribution have historically impacted art prices. In the fifth chapter, the author documents how art prices are not only affected by global economic growth and stock market trends, but also by country-specific factors. The sixth chapter investigates the long-run returns on British collectible postage stamps. Finally, the seventh chapter concludes and suggests a number of avenues for future research. |
