Samenvatting
The Département des Etudes, de la Prospective et des Statistiques (DEPS) of the French Ministry of Culture and Communication financed an important research project to find out what the audiences think of free admission of museums and monuments in 2002 and 2003. This paper presents some of the results, which contribute to understand, in the French context, free entrance social representations of free admission. It shows that it is much more complex than what the ideal is supposed to be. Recommendations are formulated for free admission marketing and heritage marketing in general. Paper held at the 5th ICCPR conference, 20-24 August 2008, Istanbul, Turkey.
