Samenvatting The publication describes the present government `s culture and media policy. The focus is on establishing a broad base for culture, one that supports excellence, offers scope for talent and encourages critical choices. The first section of the memorandum outlines the government` s cultural policy agenda for the coming years, focusing on the themes of excellence, innovation and e-culture, cultural participation, making the Netherlands a more beautiful country, and a strong culture sector. The underlying philosophy is that culture has intrinsic value and represents the country`s intangible riches. The second section describes the implications of 'making a difference' a set of proposals to overhaul the funding system in the arts and culture. |
