Samenvatting European integration is more than just pushing out boundaries and implementing the communautaire (the entire body of European laws). Cultural relations in their broadest sense must underpin successful integration. This collection looks at three instances where European integration needs straw for its brick-making: addressing the exclusion of the Roma of central and eastern Europe; sustaining the development of Turkish civil society; and building the infrastructure of cultural co-operation in south-eastern Europe. Essays by Corina Suteu, Murat Belge, Poppy Szaybo with an introduction by Stephen Kinnock is one of ten celebrating the British Council's 70th anniversary by examining some of the most critical issues for the future of cultural relations. |
