Since January 2004, the Museums Association has been carrying out an inquiry into the future of collecting and collections in the UK's museums. The main report from the inquiry is published as 'Collections for the future : report of a Museums Association inquiry'. This paper focuses on one key strand of the main report: the need for museums to make better use of their stored collections.
