Information and analyses of the organisation and impact of the European capitals of culture from 1995-2004. These cities were: Luxembourg, Copenhagen, Thessaloniki, Stockholm, Weimar, Avignon, Bergen, Santiago de Compostella, Porto, Rotterdam, Bruges, Salamanca, Graz, Genoa and Lille. Subjects are: Cultural programme and impact; Infrastructure; Communication, promotion and media response; European perspectives and dimension; Sharing the title; Economic perspectives; Visitor perspectives; Monitoring and evaluation; Legacy and long-term effects. Study also documents the initiative of European cultural months from 1995 till 2003 (Nicosia, St. Petersburg, Ljubljana, Linz, Valletta, Plovdiv, Basel and Riga). Report also refers to the longer-term impacts of the 10 European cities of culture during the period 1985-1994, and to the European capitals of culture designated under new EU procedures for 2005-2008. |
