Samenvatting
Methodological approach to cultural policy and cultural diversity, from a comparative international perspective. Overall objective of this study is to understand and support the development of democratic cultural policy in the context of culturally diverse societies. Cultural diversity is defined as both as a result of a historical process of patterns of migration as well as concerning groups that have been placed outside dominant social and cultural norms. In order to perform as a democratic cultural policy, it will need to define the conditions of equity and fairness for cultural participation: it will need to embrace diversity rather than cultural homogenity as a norm. The study involved participation from six member states: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Seven research position papers were commissioned from acknowledged experts in the relevant fields.
