Samenvatting The Boekman Foundation was asked by the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) to join in a project called 'Cultural policy from Amsterdam to Zilina'. Description of the project and its objectives: to monitor the current state of cultural development, to improve the management of different types of institutions, and to establish relationships between those institutions and members of the artistic community. The final aim was to provide the citizens of the Zilina region with a range of diverse and high quality cultural activities. Cas Smithuijsen, director of the Boekman Foundation wrote an epilogue describing the nature of the contribution, the evaluation of the process and outcome of the project, and the relevance of the project for Europe as a whole.
