Samenvatting The arts and cultural sectors are at a crossroads. Since 1997 arts provision has been extended and has developed new and innovative approaches to engagement with all levels of society. However, in the current financial climate tough choices will have to be made. The aim of this publication is to consider the role played by arts and culture in the social agenda, and based on essays written by cultural professionals, thinkers and policymakers from throughout the arts and cultural sectors and drawn from a series of seminars run by the IPPR from 2003 tot 2004. This book argues that the arts can no longer rely on advocacy but must begin to develop a robust evidence base that underpins the unique contribution that the arts can make to society. |
