Samenvatting The arts in transition project of the Canadian conference of the arts concluded that, to sustain not-for-profit arts organizations in an era of uncertain or dwindling public funding, greater emphasis must be placed on: building lasting connections with communities and the wider public; making the benefits the arts bring to society the central theme of arts advocacy; increasing community buy-in and nongovernment revenues; and encouraging administrative and managerial effectiveness in arts organizations. A culture of shared resources must be cultivated between arts organizations, public-sector funders, the private sector and organizations working on behalf of community development. |
