Special issue includes the following subjects: the contribution economic analysis can make to the study of museums as productive organisations, related policies, the relationship between art lessons and art history and appreciation classes as a child with adult visits to art museums, art museums output changes away from collection maintenance to display events and to the sale of add-on goods, 'superstar' museums, the creation of a variety of mixed forms of governance incorporating both public and private governing authorities, museums in the United Kingdom (structure, visitor patterns and funding of the museum sector), museum charging, the functions of art museums, the importance of donations, and art collections.
