Samenvatting
The British museum celebrates its 250the anniversary. It was based on the natural history collection of Hans Sloane. Later the collection expanded with antiquities, prints, drawings, paintings, statues and coins. Until the middle years of the twentieth century the museum provided the only academic professinalism in fields such as archeology, ancient languages and art history. Today it remains in the forefront of research and education, making the collection available to the public through exhibitions and publications at all levels. |
