Samenvatting
In Britain in the high middle ages, women played an active and significant role as artistic patrons. Who were these women? What were their social status, the sources of their wealth and their motives for acting as they did? Questions were raised about the nature of female patonage and about the means by which their aimes were achieved. Survey of the various buildings, tombs and artefacts that they chose to spend their money on.
