Samenvatting Copies of paintings or other works of visual arts are considered of different value throughout the centuries. During the Renaissance they were almost as worthy as originals, but they fell into disrepute in the last 19th Century. Because of the many functions they exercise, markets for copies never fully disappeared. Reactions of various actors on this market: artists, buyers, collectors, lawyers, museums, art historians and philosophers, who contributed to the positive as well as to the negative aspects of copying. |
