Samenvatting
Introduction to the work of one of the leading French sociologists of the present day: Pierre Bourdieu. The book contains a description of the key concepts, the casestudies and the criticisms of the sociologist. Also Bourdieu's work is placed in the intellectual and historical (French) context and by doing so it is showed that his ideas are best understood as cultural analysis. The book traces also the development of Bourdieu's early work on education to his relationship to cultural sociology and cultural studies. Through a description of Bourdieu's wide ranging body of theoretical and analytical work a framework is offered within the most recent aspects of that work can be understood.
