Samenvatting
Examination of the role of new communication and information technology in two areas: artistic and cultural creation and in the provision of new products, distribution channels and consumer options in culture industries. For this examination it was necessary to explore these themes in wider global context, the global information infrastructure. Artists are losing the direct contact to technological research and developments. Interactive multimedia promises consumers new options and wider acces to culture. These trends pertain mainly to the 'first world'. Political and economic measures should be taken to make these media available to a large group of users.
