Samenvatting The book aims to contribute to a greater understanding of national regulations and cultural policies regarding broadcasting. It identifies the cultural obligations of broadcasters in seven countries (Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom). and emphasises the diversity of national approaches with regard to the relation between culture and television and analyses the role and responsibility of the different institutional players. In order to put cultural obligations into their social and economic context, it also examines cultural policies at European and international levels: focussing specifically on the debate regarding the reinforcement of the cultural dimension at EU level. |
