Minorities and popular music in Serbia between authenticity and globalization

Serbia is one of the Central Balkan countries which presents a mosaic of religious, local, ethnic and other identities, owing to its geographical and geopolitical location and incredibly complex historical heritage. This variety, fragmentation and historical multilayering is obvious, simply by looking at the demographic structure of the Serbian population, and can be exemplified by taking a look at the practice of popular music. Researchers in the field of popular music in Serbia have to take into account all these aspects.
