A research project, carried out in 1995, examined the recent and ongoing decentralisation processes in the cultural sector in the Nordic countries. Survey of the methodological framework of the research project, the levels of public gouvernment in the nordic countries and the state instruments for governing local and regional decision-making. Brief description of the situation in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway.
