Naive art and local politics : the making of a museum genre

In 1994 a new museum was opened in Zwolle, called 'De stadshof'. It was the first museum in the Netherlands specially devoted to the presentation of naïve and outsider art. Survey of the local debate and the goals of the actors involved: the town mayor, the city council, civil servants, the collectors, the board of the museum and others. Naive art was in this process considered as a specific aesthetic form, following High art concepts.
