91-100 Survey of the role of the Basque government concerning the establishment of the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. The reactions were rather negative: the Basque national leaders thought the project would harm the identity of the Basque culture, journalists were critical about the stringent conditions for the running of the museum. Artists and local architects condemned the project.
