Samenvatting
Art is over because it has lost its aesthetic import, states Kuspit, American art critic. He regrets the demise of art that enriches our lives by looking at the world differently. `Post-art' is soulless, banal, corrupt, plays to the crowd for popularity. And it has run out of ideas. He also critizises the Turner Prize, Britain's art prize for British artists under 50. Yet Kuspit is optimistic about the future as he notices new old masters, who see the value in mastering a medium, who are exploring the fruits of intuitive and imaginative thinking and who are naïve enough to believe in the validity of aesthetic presence.
