Samenvatting
Since the sculptures from the Partenon arrived in England at the beginning of the nineteenth century, they have caused controversy. Account of the extraordinary circumstances in which the Elgin Marbles were acquired, of the tremendous impact which they made on the appreciation of Greek art in Europe. Revelation of the bad treatment of the marbles in the British Museum add fuel to the discussion about whether the marbles should be returned to Greece.
