Met lit. opg. Interim version of the Keynes lecture Sir Alan Peacock gave to the British Academy. He treated the question who has to pay for the nation's (United Kingdom) cultural heritage. The question had become topical with the arrival of the National lottery from which funding for this amongst others has to come.
