Art and the public sphere

Met reg.Met lit. opg. Collection of thirteen essays on the aesthetic, social and political dynamics that make contemporary public art so controversial, and that have placed recent art work at the center of public debates. The topics covered range from the phenomenology of the public memorial to the legal intricacies of state-sponsored art and include art and censorship, the demolition of monuments and statues in the former communist countries, and the ways an artist can approach his audience.
