Samenvatting
A study on the implications of culture and communications for Canadian unity. It contains a brief history of Canada's cultural evolution to point out that it was a multicultural and multilingual country long before the Europeans arrived. Further more attention is given to the role of the governments (municipal, provincial and federal) in nurturing cultural development and fortering preservation of the heritage. In the final chapter the authors address future policy areas for culture and communic ations, particularly the role of the federal government in fulfilling the constitutional promise for Canada.
