Addendum to the original report `Coming to our senses: the significance of the arts for American education'. An account of arts education during a decade of transition (1977- 1987). It attempts to show the state of the arts in 1977 and in 1987. It is a plea to recognize the value of the arts, to accord them their deserved place in education, and to see and solve the problems that plague the field.
